The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Serving Oregon since 1917, the Oregon Mountain River Chapter works throughout Deschutes, Jefferson, Crook, Wheeler, Grant and Harney Counties providing vital community services, including:

Health and Safety - Your best value in training for both youth and adult audiences. Classes include First Aid with CPR and AED training, Water Safety, Infant and Child CPR, Babysitter and "When I'm In Charge" training, working around Bloodborne Pathogens and more. Our instructors train more than 1,000 people each month throughout the region.

Disaster Services - The need for your support and donations to aid the Red Cross response to single-family fires, forest fires and any other natural or man-made disaster is constant. The organization supports disaster victims with emergency food, shelter, clothing, counseling and other services. OMR staff and volunteers respond to a disaster event more than 110 days a year, providing services to more than 550 individuals.

Armed Forces Emergency Services - Your Red Cross provides local Armed Forces personnel an emergency communications link to their families back home, access to financial assistance, counseling and assistance to veterans. The OMR Chapter will assist nearly 300 service men and women this year - many of whom are serving in assignments throughout the world.

Blood Services - Founded in 1949, the Pacific Northwest Blood Services Region of the Red Cross strives to collect nearly 5,000 blood donations weekly to meet the needs of accident victims, cancer patients, and other ill or injured people who need transfusions. In the tri-county area, more than 18,000 units of blood are collected each year. The region serves more than 80 hospitals in Oregon, Washington and Alaska.
